i ended up going w/ Boston Accoustics FX4 4" 2 ways.. from Bryn Mawr Stereo
(now called "Tweeter Sound and Video") im going to dremel out the blaupunkts
out of the '88-'91 wire mesh stock grilles, and use the '88-'91 stock mesh
grilles.  should fit well, without any clearance probs. ill post how it goes.
  while i was there the saleskid allowed me to plug in a stock vanagon
blaupunkt into their head unit and compare it with the BA fx4...what a
difference!!
while i was at Bryn Mawr stereo i noticed their catalog had a mid '60's
splitty on the cover..   did that have any influence on my buying there?
maybe.. :<)
also a well known listmember/vendor used to work for them in their ad dept,
if i remember correctly :<)
