Well, as a follow up to my post yesterday about identifying my "mystery" ECU with the Bosch label (and no yellow label), it IS indeed compatible with the upgrade chip's 28 pins. I had to pull the ECU apart in order to count the pins before I knew for sure.

Now I also see that the chip must be *unsoldered* and the new one soldered in place. I am assuming this is the case, but I thought I would check with the List and do a quick sanity check before I bust out the "solder sucker" and iron..

Can anyone confirm for me that the old chip must be unsoldered and the new one soldered in place? Also, I am assuming that the alignment of the new chip is done by using the notch in the end of the chip (and matching it to the same notch location in the old chip's placement?

Also, it may be a week before I get the rockers installed - anyone tried the chip without the rockers? Any problems? (I am assuming not - just a bit more rich operation when warm...)

I have pictures, and will be documenting the entire process in case anyone is curious...
