I recommend one of two alternatives to leaving completely:

1. Subscribe in "digest" mode, where you get one or two e-mails a day with a "summary" or

2. Create a filter in your e-mail client to move any incoming e-mails from "vanagon@gerry.vanagon.com" into a convenient folder so that you can browse them at your leisure and not clutter up your main mail box. This is the approach I use, and it easier IMO than digest mode.
