Dear list members, My oil pressure light has been periodically coming on and off. I wasn't leaking anything and the level seemed fine. Nonetheless, I brought it into a repair shop to check the oil pressure. They confirmed that the pressure was within specifications, but the problem continued. They also tried to find any shorts in the oil pressure light. They didn't find anything. I've noticed that the headlights get brighter when the light comes on. I followed the advice of a friend that knows more about cars than I and I tightened the alternator belt. The oil pressure light hasn't come on since but my friend says there's no way the alternator belt can have anything to do with the oil pressure light. Can anyone confirm a connection between the two. 86 vanagon GL |
