Welcome Kevin, Change / replace the temp gauge senders & thermostat instead, the coolant temperature is a direct precise indication of the head / water jacket temp. I find that the Vanagon gauge is very precise when working properly. I would suggest that you add an oil temp & pressure gauge instead of a heads VDO. The oil temp and pressure VDO / monitoring is a very good addition to detect any upcoming engine problems. (Including the infamous 2.1 long term rod problem) See the following link on that subject: http://volksweb.relitech.com/21rodbrg.htm I am still trying to figure out which one to buy (oil VDO) for the vanagon. Here is a good link (new VW parts supplier in Canada): http://store.cip1.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?Screen=CTGY&Store_Code=cali&Cat egory_Code=20-05 If any of you guys have more info on the subject!!!!!!! (parts #, parts supplier) Regards, Ben http://www3.sympatico.ca/huotx/engine1.htm |
