Thanks! This is what I meant about this community- you're all willing to chat, lend a hand, etc. I've been to syncro.org, it's pretty amazing. The main problem has been trying to integrate all this utterly new info into myself... mostly at night, when the kid lets me off the hook for a while. I'm approaching the whole thing from an old-bug-and-rabbit point of view, and it's interesting to see how little the Vanagon's mechanicals have to do with... well, pretty much any other VW I've touched. The parts prices look to be on par with Corrados, though... <shivers> A little background on my incoming van- it's an '87, currently sitting in L.A. with one head off, but no other major problems. I'm driving down there, putting the head back on, and driving home to Denver, with a buddy chasing me in his truck- "just in case". The wasserboxer only has to get me home; I've got an accursed Jetta with a great JH I4 motor waiting to be donated. I'm actually having a good time trying to track down the various diesel parts I need- I don't want to give in and buy them from Fast Forward... yet. I know I'll be getting at least some parts from them, eventually, but right now I'm enjoying the chase.
