Subject: Manual on/off Switch for Radiator Fan /Radiator Questions
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii
For some reason when I drive around town my temp gauge
needle stays at "High" for a while then all of the
sudden it goes down to "normal" and stays there. I
cant figure out if its a clogged radiator or a bum
temp. gauge. Ive bled the system more that 5 times and
im really confused as to whats going on. When the van
is running HOT i get out to feel the radiator and it
feels cool up on the top half and hot on the bottom
half. Could there be a clog up there and only half the
rad. is working? According to my temperature gun, When
the engine is hot the head temp is right around 195F
degrees. When its running cool its at 170F. Oops..by
the way this is a Tiico motor.
I also think I need to install a new thermo switch as
I tested the fan (crossed wires to thermoswitch w/
paperclip) and the fan works fine but does not work
when engine is hot. Also i think Id like to install an
overiding switch so I can manually turn fan on Like
Sean B. did. Im tired of sweating becouse i turned the
heater on to keep my engine running cooler.\\
Thanks
