To Debra and others interested in a San Diego get together: Last July a few of the list members held such an event in San Diego at Mission Bay. We checked out each other's vans, traded van stories, went to the beach, had dinner together at a local buffet and watched the fireworks over Mission Bay. I had fun and I think the others did also. I'd like to see it happen again this summer. I think with enough advance notice we could get quite a crowd. I would suggest that we keep it simple and make it just a one-day event. Campgrounds are full and expensive at that time of the year. There is plenty of parking available at a prime Mission Bay location---but only if people get there before 9am. Those who are interested in attending a similar event this summer might want to start discussing the topic. I'd recommend holding it sometime in July or August, so that the ocean will be warm enough to enjoy (for those who enjoy that). It will also give us time to promote the event.
