i agree, i like the idea of the westy and all the fun stuff, makes you feel idependent and self-contained, i owned two before, but i must say i prefer the roomier standard version or weekender versions (pull out the middle seat) w/o all the mumbo-jumbo and the larger bed. when it comes to moving large things around or storage the regular gl vanagons are better, not to mention i use mine as a daily driver and would really feel wasteful pulling around all the camping gear that i rarely used....HOWEVER, for camping, the westy is the best, even if the bed is smaller.
