The most important thing in living in a Vanagon (or a sail boat) is
cleanliness and order. It is all too easy to allow cleanliness to slide.

I shudder at the thought of sharing this but 30 years ago my sister got
involved in as short term affair with a guy who lived in his van. She
thought he was so cool, until she discovered crabs in her hair up and down.

His van was infested with the nasty crabs and so was his hair and beard. He
said he did not care about it. She kicked him to the curb saying that she
did her duty to inform him that he had crabs and how to get rid of them. She
bought some "Rid" at the drug store to rid herself of the infestation, did
her laundry, cleaned out her whole house and anywhere she had been sitting
or hanging out and moved on.

In my opinion living in a Vanagon should not be about saving money although
it might. I can be about freedom, travel, seeing the world or just plain
occasional camping.

Living or driving a Vanagon should always be about cleanliness and a tidy
van. The way one keeps their car (Vanagon) is a reflection of the way you
keep your consciousness and the way you live your life.
