Subject: Fuel pump warning signs
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii"

Hi Guys,

I may be paranoid and the little voices in my head getting too loud but it sounds to me as if the sound/noise/pitch of the fuel pump on my wasserboxer has changed in the last month or so....kinda deeper and a little louder,or so it seems.

There's nothing wrong with the way it is performing but it is the original pump in the van and now, approaching 10 years old and with 233,000kms of fuel delivery behind it I was wondering...well I guess I'm soliciting comments really from those of you who have had a pump fail...did you notice a change in the pump sound either when the ignition key is first turned or when travelling along?

An archive search produced a sh*t load of info on pumps in general, but not with reagrd to my particular question. So if anybody is willing to share their experiences on what warning signs they observed prior to failure,I'd be most grateful...:)

If I do have some early signs,I'd like to be ready...

Cheers, Steve O Blue Mountains NSW Aust. '92 Transporter WBX Kombi '76 Transporter Double Cab '68 Beetle '00 Transporter 5Cyl Double Cab (work truck)
