I have seen this setup many times on different vehicles and it always scares me. The one time that someone else needs to drive the van and forgets to turn on the fan your engine becomes toast. Read my article on how to test the fan system on my website at http://www.vanagain.com/disc2_frm.htm I have never found a system yet that was very hard to troubleshoot and fix with just a small amount of effort and time. Just FYI.

I had to run a wire from the battery strait to the fan due to a short. Somewhere, I couldn't find the problem. This situation seems to working quite well, I can turn the fan on/off when I like. My concern is damaging the fan, I don't have a fuse in line from the battery. Is it safe to go without? The 12v toggle switch i use is 16 amp. which kinda suggests a fuse ought to be used. If I put one in should it be before the switch or does it make a difference?

Thanks everybody!
