Subject: Oversize tires on a 2WD Aircooled?
Content-Type: text/plain; format=flowed

I'm in the process of giving my '81 a (much-needed) cosmetic makeover. Part of that will be new tires, partly for looks and partly for utility. I've got my eye on a set of LT27x8.5x14 Kumho Venture MTs from TireRack. I like these because of the agressive tread and the reinforced sidewall. Are these large enough over stock that I should get different wheels? This bus sits up substantially higher than later models, so I don't think rubbing will be an issue. Will the bigger tires tax the motor too much? Any of you guys have a similar setup/experience? TIA-

JJ
