I never use any sealant unless it's explicitly called for by manufacturer's installation notes. I bought a water pump that called for it, and I didn't put it on. I only noticed after I installed it. I'll let you know if it leaks. I seriously doubt it. Most everytime, you don't need sealant at all. Use new gaskets, o-rings, etc and correct torque values and you'll be in good shape. No doubt about that.
