Subject: Noisy Fuel Pump?
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii

We are the second owners of an 1982 Westy, aircooled. Have had it for a couple of years. It has 147000kms on the clock and is a solid vehicle. There are two items which concern me and I would appreciate the opinions of other A/C, Vanagon owners. Firstly the fuel pump makes a growling noise intermittently. Is this an indication of a pump soon to fail or a "normal" sound? Secondly, the fuel lines in the engine compartment appear to be original. They are clean, and show no sign of cracks, moisture etc. They are however, not pliable and that concerns me, because of the engine fire posts which appear regularly on this site. Any suggestions on the best method to replace these lines? Thanks.....Looking forward to another season with the Westy.
