The way I see it (after having driven an '87 VW Golf GTI from Eastern Canada
 for 12 years prior to my '87 Westy, it's just a matter of realizing that a
 used vehicle will cost you repairs, while a new vehicle will cost you payments
 and interests. It's just a matter of choosing one vs the other. Me, if I don't
 pay much more than 700-1000$ in repairs per year, I feel I'm getting my fair
 use of the vehicle.
