Ken,
here is what has helped for me.
Fridge out:
1.disassembling the burner unit and cleaning out chamber and carefully
cleaning jet (used fine brass wire).
2. checking that air pump working
3. checking that gas indeed flows into chamber when "thermostat override"
button depressed.
Fridge in place:
1. stroke air pump quite a few times. Then some more. I used to keep a
length of rubber hose which I used to blow air in through drain port but I
found that vigorous pumping work better.
2. with "override button" depressed and piezo sparking away, continue
pumping air pump. I found that it does not blow the flame out but in fact
helps to keep it going and get the chimney drawing.
3. monitor the LED rather than trying to see flame through "light pipe".
Should see the LED glow brighter as flame/chamber temp increases.
4. keep "override button" depressed and continue pumping for approx. 15-25
seconds after LED is at it's brightest. When you release the button and stop
pumping the LED should remain bright - if it starts to dim then you haven't
done #4 long enough!
