I just called a private party who has a '87 Westie for sale. He said it had rear AC only, and that no Westies have front AC because the cool air has to flow through a tunnel on the ceiling and the pop-top would prevent this. I thought I read that I read that Vanagons got front air in 86-on. So, do any Westies have front AC? The car is in California, an '87 that supposedly has 74K original miles. Supposedly the owner rebuilt the heads, put in new rings and new cooling hoses in '97. Clean exterior, original paint in good condition, pretty clean interior. Has receipts documenting maintenance back to '97. Coolant changed every two years, oil every 3-5 thousand miles. Had accident in Right Rear Quarter panel, supposedly fixed like new. (I haven't seen it yet.) Owner says shift linkage a bit temperamental. Wants to jump out of first when cold. Is this a BiG WARNING or a easy fix? The party wants $8,300? What do you'all think?
