NONSENSE, The propane tank guy is misinformed. It is the bar B que type that are not refillable. Westy tanks are OK to fill. Just go to a different VW guy. William

Something new everyday -- Today's surprise: propane tanks. I went to fill up the tank on my 87 Westy, something I have never done before. The guy tells me he's not allowed to fill tanks more than 12 years old. Mine is original, built 9/86. The guy also tells me there is no 80% valve on my tank, which there is and I had to point out to him after looking in the manual. Then he says he'll fill it this once, attaches the hose and it won't fill. So he gives up. I think he might have been sand bagging me. Anyone know anything about this 12-year rule? Corollary -- anyone got a young tank they want to sell cheap? Bob W. |
