'85 seems to be when VW crossed over from two switches to single switch. Either way they inform the ECU whether the throttle is at idle or wide open. At the time I was looking (before I found this list) the dealer wanted something exorbident, like $30+, for these little switches. I found equivalent replacements for $0.90 at a local electronic hobbiest store. I had to cut off extra contacts and epoxy them (I did it to two vehicles) into place but they work just fine.
