David; From my expeience the most likely culprit would be the Hall Effects Sensor. This is the electronic device in the distributor that substitutes for points. Here is a quick test the next time it quits: Remove the center coil wire and ground it(this is for safety). While listening at the engine compartment have some one turn on the ignition and listen for the fuel pump to run and more importantley, the injectors to fire. They make a distinct hiss. Now turn the engine over by hand. Every time the hall effect fires the injectors should fire also. If you hear the injectors then the Hall Effects is NOT bad. If you do not hear them then it COULD be bad. More test would be needed. Let me know.
