Sounds like you're missing a 'dongle'. A 'dongle' is a piece of hardware
with is required to be connected to a serial port on the PC running the
software. The software looks for the key encoded on an EEPROM chip, and if
this key is not found or the dongle is not connected, the software will not
function.
I have no idea how to get around this type of license-protection device.

Suppose one had a new version of this somehow, but the new version, which
is reportedly really great, caused a lockup due to not having the required
hardware device on the back of the PC.
If so, how would one go about making it more similar to the ETKA 5.30s
that we have been using in the past.
Technical comments solicited which may describe the methodologies of
protection in this disk. Pmails welcome.
