Subject: On Closet Doors and Westy Tables

Just had to comment here.

The original poster's solution to the closet door problem is both clever and effective. Excellent idea, wish I had thought of it! I'll cut my closet door ASAP. Kudos' for and excellent suggestion.

As to the problem of location of the rear table and fixing it in place during one's travels, I developed my solution in 1983. I was having trouble with the rear table swinging out during hard turns (when starting up - was a diesel then). I torqued down the retaining screws, but then SWMBO couldn't undo them. So observing that the table rest position was very specific, I removed the locking bolts from the pedestal pipe and the table flange, used a fine line marker to outline the bore of the bolt, took out the table and pipe and cut clearance holes (to just clear the thread OD of the bolt). Actually I also drilled a set point hole to also lock the position parallel to the rear seat. So when traveling, I merely tighten down the bolt until it comes to the threaded stop. The bolt proceeds into the pipe --- and the pipe/table is fixed in position. No rattle, no hassle. If I need an unusual angle, the normal function of bolt pressing against pipe sidewall works just fine.

I also raised the swing pipe/rear table about 3/8 inch above the stock position so I can store the front table face down under the rear table. Just enough friction to keep it in place at all times. This let me put the second CD changer behind the drivers front seat.
