There is a "sleeve", for want of a better word, that probably is intended to distribute pressure over a larger surface area on the table leg, when you crank down on the tightening knob to lock the table in place. A couple of years ago, I tried gluing a thin patch of rubber from a bicycle inner tube to the "sleeve" on the assumption it would hold the table leg firmly in place. Unfortunately, this bright idea didn't work. Maybe the inner tube was too smooth. The best solution I've come up with is to repaint the table leg with a flat paint which seems to provide more friction between the leg and the "tightening knob sleeve" (n.b. Technical Terminology). The paint on the table leg wears away after years use, exposing the shiny, underlying metal, which doesn't provide much friction.

| I have a "1980 Westy" with exactly the same problem. I have read that | there is some sort of sleeve that fits around the tube connected to the | table that distributes the friction applied by the screw and holds the | table in place. Some one once told me that my van was probably missing | this sleeve. I have no idea if that is true and if it is, I have no | idea where to get one. Please share any information that you come
