Folks,

I've got a bit of rust-through just forward of the passenger seat near the foot well. Basically it looks like a case of salt/corrosive crud taking advantage of a weak spot in the undercoating.... and then just eating away for several years.

We're talking six inches long, by about one inch at the widest point. Only about a quarter of an inch of daylight visible from the inside.

My question is: do I find somebody to weld in new metal, or do I wirebrush and grind my way to bare metal and then schmear on industrial-strength epoxy paste, shape, let cure, and spray on some undercoating and cut my losses.

It is not visible unless you're down on your knees by my right front tire... so cosmetics are not an issue.

I recently used some epoxy paste to fix a broken weld and was amazed at the strength/tenacity.

Anybody have experience with this type of repair?

Thanks,

-jspeer
