Subject: 85 vanvagon 1.9 electrical prob
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii

So this is my first post...I have a 85 vanagon GL 1.9 and lately it has been dying on me. Example...I go to the store and when I come out it does not start, it will turn over, but it will not fire, there is no spark coming from the spark plug wire, it has also done this to me when I am driving down the road. One time this happened I had my girlfriend try to start it so I could see if the spark plug wire was sparking, it was not... I left the car and came back to tow it 3 hours later, it started then and I was able to drive it back home..??? I took it to a mechanic and he wasn't sure, but told me that it was probably the computer or electrical thinga-ma-ding. I was wondering if it could be the points(does it have points), or the coil, or a fuse, or what? any help would be great..thanks
