Subject: Value of US Vanagon minus engine, trans?
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii" ; format="flowed"

Thinking of bringing in a dead van for parts, preferably minus engine, trans, grills & headlights, from the LA area. Be nice if it was an upmarket van eg Carat; body could be rusty, but pref good front doors (if later model than my Australian 84 the tailgate probably wouldn't fit, and of course the slider wouldn't either, in which case these items can be rough as. Would need to be towable, so a steering rack must be there, otherwise I wouldn't need the rack (won't fit my RHD van, so can be faulty, no problem).

Also wouldn't need: window regulators (either manual or electric) rear heater instrument cluster good tires alloy wheels (crappy steel is fine) side marker lights/reflectors

WOULD want: cruise control taillights front indicators licenseplate lights good bumpers (steel) or complete (plastic ones can be cracked but must be complete ie repairable) aircon would be nice (won't need engine-mounted pump)

Shipping may well make it uneconomic, but I do have a cheap shipper from LA, so it just might be on. Price would need to be cheap...

Prices? Availability?
