Well Bill--I'd rather have the "rise" than the ditch any day---:>)

E-mail message from Bill N

The earlier Vanagon Westys have the "ditch" but not the "rise."

TK writes;

I don't think so Russell--- I mean you can most sertainly chop a hole into your roof if you want, but there is a definate" ditch" cut all the way around the hole to keep the H20 from dropping in--- And at the side of that ditch is a rise that the seal fits on, to meet the inside edge of the skylight. I am not so sure would be wanting to cut a flush hole to fit a flat aluminum framed skylight in my top----- Later, Terry

I have an 1980 Westy without the skylight too. It has a spot formed into the fibreglass of the pop-up that I assume I could add an aftermarket skylight to. My guess would be that it's an option.

Subject: Re: Skylight Plexiglass When did they start putting skylights in the Westy, or was it an option?
