THANK YOU to everyone who replied via the list and by private email.


Your advice was great; I changed the oil, adding REDEX and ran the van for
15 minutes.  After 2-3 minutes the noise began to reduce and then went away.


I apologise for posting my question when there had been a discussion on
exactly the same issue just days before.   Since joining the list I have
been trying to catch up with the digests I receive and I was still several
days behind.
