Subject: More info on 5-cylinder conversion and TDD conversions from
              Overland Parts
Content-type: text/plain; charset=iso-8859-1

Just another update today on these two conversions that folks were asking about yesterday. The 5-cylinder conversion from Overland is looking like about $6000. You can also buy the kit with a 5-speed transmission for $6700 and for another $500 you can even get new alternator, A/C compressor, and power steering pump (hey if you are going to spend the money to me it would be worth getting the transmission and the new accessories). Smog issues in California are unknown so far, but I believe they are working on this one. They did get their Eurospec conversions CARB approved last time around so these motors will probably be approved soon as well.

The TDI conversion kits. These are actually called TDD (Turbo Direct Injection Diesel) by the folks at Overland because they are actually a hybrid of the TDI engine with mechanical injection on it. This is (according to Overland) supposed to give you the benefits of the TDI torque, horsepower and fuel economy, without the complexity of the electronic controls. These kits are selling for $5950.

They are really excited about selling these kits at the moment. They want to get some in the marketplace so that folks can drive them and send out postive reports to others and stir up interest. At this point if you placed an order through me I might be able to get a cheaper price for the conversion and free shipping. Give me a call if you are seriously interested.

You can see these conversion kits and read the descriptions at: http://www.overlandparts.com/conkitintro.htm
