Mike...consider planning on switching to synthetic while on your trip. You probably have some idea when you will be getting into the 5k part of your trip and can make the change there. No big deal convenience wise, but very good for your motor ;>) Also, go ahead and switch to synthetic tranny oil now...as someone else here said: "twice as nice". Very simple to do.
