I'm curious. Why bother with personal mailboxes when this site has a great archives list? What am I missing?

William

I do this with Eudora and it works great.

But I think possibly you should keep each mailbox to less than 100mb in size -- for example by restricting it to a mailbox called "Vanagon Archive 1999 1st Half" etc.

Then, when you go to search, search the multiple Vanagon archive mailboxes that make up your combined archive. In other words there is no reason to try to stick all the messages into one giant mailbox.

Eudora seems to get a little temperamental if the mailbox gets too big. Possibly that has changed now that I have a bigger faster PC but I have not tested that.

All incoming Vanagon related mail goes to the VANAGON mailbox whereupon I promptly delete most of it unread and then I let the "manual" filters sweep it out of the trash and into the archive mailboxes.

Hey all, I have Eudora 5.0 set up to filter all my vanagon list mail into a separate box for easy reading and sorting by thread (subject). Now I'm approaching 100M for that mailbox. I would like to archive this mailbox and start rebuilding it again. But I would like to later be able to put it all together in one mailbox to search for solutions or sort the whole thing by thread. Has anybody figured out how to do this? I checked Eudora's help and on their website, but didn't find anything about this.

Thanks, Edward
