Subject: Tranny problem
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="US-ASCII"

Hi folks, I haven't been on the list for a while, during my big move to Florida. The trip started out with a bang - literally. The day before I left, some girl hit my van as I was driving through a parking lot. I did my best to avoid her, but she got my back side. Now I need new hubcaps and an end cap. The drive was not bad at all, I actually enjoyed it. The Tiico engine kept me at about 80mph the whole time, no problems. Three days, 2300 miles. The problem is my tranny. Late in the trip, it began shifting hard. Then very hard. By the time we got here, it was a real pain in the butt. The next day, it died. The shifting was impossible, couldn't get it in or out of gear. I know the clutch was operating - the van wasn't creeping or lurching when in gear. Later on, there was the horrific grinding and slamming, followed by no power at all. the van currently is in the street, engine runs fine but it won't go. So, do I need a new tranny, and who has good ones for sale? Or, is this a minor problem that a VW dealer will fix? Any input will be appreciated. I am in a new area and have no resources yet, and all my tools are packed.

Bill Marshall 85 GL Tiico Bradenton, FL
