Subject: a whiff of propane
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1"

Greetings: I just finished re-installing my fridge. I can't begin to describe the misery. Putting in the fridge was cake -- hooking up the gas line was not. I ended up kinking the thing, then having to replace the entire line. $70 worth of flaring tools, pipe benders, 3/8 copper line, flare nuts, pipe dope, and misc., and two full days of work later and the line is finally in. Yes, I am no plumber. If I never see another flare nut in my life I will be a happy man.

On the bright side: I did hook up a cool Radio Shack fan in the fridge. I connected it to the 12v fan on the back and put a little toggle switch on the fridge itself, right where it says "dometic." Looking forward to the cold beer that baby is going to produce.

Question: I get a whiff of propane every time I walk by the tank OUTSIDE the van. Nothing serious, but it's there. I soaped all connections, inside and out, and can find nothing leaking. Still the smell. I suspect the on/off valve, worn with age and over enthusiastic cranking. Anyone had a similar experience? Something to worry about, because I need more to worry about?

Thanks Bob W.
