Tom, Be sparing with the heat on aluminum? This was a massive understatement---!! What a disaster to have the area around the plug go "PLOOP"---in your lap---:>) It for sure doesn't take much--- Glad you got them out OK---

Subject: How to remove transmission plugs?...problem solved
Thanks to Daryl, Todd, Terry, Ed, Rick, and "Whiskey" for suggestions. With the transmission out of the vehicle, I removed the plugs by application, three times, of 10-seconds of propane torch flame to aluminum areas around the steel plugs, and by the rather easy loosenings of the plugs with a short, appxroximately 2", - 17 MM, transmission "male" tool on a socket wrench.
