Volks, This from my friend Nils, who is not a Vanagon gear-head, but you can tell he's done an admirable job of translation -- at least, it makes sense to me! Chris Radcliffe chris_radcliffe@mindspring.com '90 Westy Auto "Blue Whale"

Chris, I know nothing about rims, so here is the fairly direct translation... ;) Nils The specifications are 7.5X16 and 9X16, 7.5 or 8.5X17 and 10X17 or 8.5X18 and 10X18 there aren't many rim types/brands to choose between and most aren't delivered/made long enough. It may work but this is not how many will sell. You can also find adaptors such that you can use for example a Porsche rim, as these are popular over all of the CUP rims. Adaptors are found in different thicknesses and threading. On 7.5 and 9x17 of the Porsche made ones, it is typical to use about 30mm back and 25mm thick to get the right fitting. |
