> nothing beats a good friday afternoon flogging of an employee that is being > fired.... ah, the olde dayes ... when the sound of a cat-o'-nine-tails would sharpen the wits of many a crewman!! not to mention the bucket of salt water poured over 'is back when 'twas all over!! :) i harken to the day when Public Flogging will return ... just imagine: you run a red light. cops pull you over. give you a ticket. you show up on Saturday to pay the ticket (court house open on Saturday? now you KNOW it's a fantasy!), and they drag you out back and tie you to a pillory and start giving you five lashes!! in front of a crowd ... who paid good money to see their fellow citizens flogged!! :) i think the city could make some money with this approach ... and it would cut down on such traffic offenses. i mean, all those little grey-haired ladies who scream bloody murder at the 'wrestling' matches .. they'd LOVE to sit in some bleachers and scream at Mary Sue and Billy Bob getting flogged for running red lights or parking illegally. and how about speeding tickets?? what say we put 'em into the stocks and sell rotten eggs and tomatos and such ... so the paying crowd of Public-Minded Citizens could vent their righteous outrage (via the eggs and veggies) on the faces of the criminals?? :) maybe branding would be next?? :) ah, for the Goode Olde Dayes ... ;) unca joel currently floggless. :) |
