Go the Tiico. I did, and there have been a few irritating things I and my
mechanic have had to work out. From posts to the list I understand there
are a few things I need to do or will have to do as well. It is a high
performance hybrid, after all, (read high speed european racing bus,
compared to the WBX). I just got back from a 2500 mi trip to Myrtle Beach
and EveryBus 2002 (what a great time!!! 150+ transporters!! I was camped
next to the non-veggy Chili winner and I like Chili!!!), and I was doing 80
MPH, when warrented and not always, with a half ton of gear (no need to
travel small in a Camper) with no noticable engine strain or overrevving.
The added "legs" both high and low one gets with the higher torque and
horsepower VW engine is great. No more following someone at 39MPH and being
too high for 3rd and too low for 4th. And the security of a new engine and
no head gaskets to replace is a real good feeling. I probably put $8000.00
into head gaskets and new heads (they can only be flycut a few times) over
the 10 yrs and 180,000 mi my last camper went (it lives on as the kids
"club" now, and my emergency spare).
