William, Perhaps earlier in the process I erred when assumed that the wheel was moving not the shaft. To solve this, I pushed the shaft farther into the wheel so that it protrudes just a bit from the wheel -- you can feel it but not really measure the protrusion ( in the Coast Guard we refered to this fine measurement as an RCH). There is quite a bit of wiggle back and forth so much in fact that the shaft walked out of the clear plastic support on the left yesterday. Sounds like I need to shove the shaft back toward the left so that there is more protrusion through the left support. Heck, it won't be the first time I've gone completely in the wrong direction to fix a problem with the beast. I'll give it a week and start looking for that new wheel. Thanks, Chuck In a message dated 5/4/02 5:00:10 PM, developtrust@cox.net writes: << You need to support the other end on the shaft and push that little plastic wheel in a bit. Just 1/32 to 1/16 of an inch did it for me. The shaft is supposed to have some play. Perhaps your wheel needs to be replaced. About $8 or so from a speedo shop. If the wheel moves too easily it is broken. You probably do not see the hairline crack.
