Those "love bugs" are bad news for a Vanagon (or anything else on the
highway for that matter.) I drove through a swarm of them in South
Louisiana a couple of years ago and they covered the whole front of mine; I
could barely see through the windshield.
I stopped about thirty miles later at a car wash and sprayed and scrubbed
the front end, but it was already too late--I was never able to fully remove
the smudge stains from of the paint, bumper, or even the license plate.
When I got back to Denver a few weeks later, I called Ron and got a nose
bra...

The truth about Fla.?
You are food for everything that crawl's, swims, and flies---
Be sure toinstall a bug screen on your grill's---it's just about "Love
Bug" season, and these black and orange in flight coitus maxiumus things
will plug upyour radiator faster than you can say Jackie Robinson---yor
windsheild will be loaded with them, so siight out the glass will be
impared---
Oh- Yea--I think this is just about when the land crabs start migrating
towards the ocean--don't run any of these bugger's over, as they will
poke a hole through your tire's real quick----
Better have real good sceens on you Van too---the no seeum's will bite
the hell out of you, whlie your napping---
If you go for a dip in the ocean, or gulf coast---be sure to look to
shore once in awhile--look for the red flags they will ocassionally all
of a sudden put up on the beach----
I had no idea what in the hell this meant, until somebody yelled "Shark"
!!!
Oh--one more thng---keep an eye on the weather channel--I think this is
Hurricane season--better buy some hurricane straps for your van to keep
it planted to the ground----
Yea, I liked Fla.-----
I got the hell out of there --got tired of being eaten the
critter's---and getting blown around---
Later,
Terry

Can someone tell me about Florida weather. I' m thinking of going there.
Someone told the weather doesn't really get hot until July and August.
Someone else told me, no, its bad right now (May); another said June was
when it got real bad. So whats the scoop?
