emotion seconded-

A 1980 something Vanagon for sale is very unlikely to have been:

Stolen: never made the top ten list;

A fleet car-not in the US!;

In a serious accident-you just can't change the fenders and hood like on a car.

About the only good thing Carfax is for is to find out where you are in the owners history(hey-I'd better get with it-I have owned my Westfalia for 6 years and I don't know if I am the second or tenth owner!)

The best way to tell if a Vanagon is worth buying is by looking at it-it's very obvious if it is poorly maintained if it looks bad outside, inside, and under the lid.

DO check the odometer rollback report on something expensive -that may be the reason it is-
