I didn't mean to be a wise guy about the engine ring sets but you're discussing technology that is in Corvette ($60,000 not un common) Lexus (way on up there over $50,000) and comparing ten to thirty year old engines to the leading edge technology. It just doesn't make good sense to compare our cheesy little $6,000.00 vehicles to the new technology vehicles power plants. My Brother has a Lexus and it comes with a mandatory maintenance schedule or he looses his warranty. The dealership just made $5000.00 worth of minor repairs under an extended warranty, all simple little things. The scheduled maintenance intervals cost about $600.00 per trip and that is about twice a year. There isn't any economy in buying overpriced vehicles. 65K and three sets of front struts and shocks so far ............ just an example but true. I shudder to think about had badly the Automotive Industry is bilking the public on new vehicles. They'll pay you $2000.00 just to take one off their hands, just pay the sales tax and title fees and you're hooked for five years.
