Subject: Headlight Protection
Content-Type: text/plain; format=flowed

I am getting a set of used headlights for my '87 from Todd Schatzman, because both of the drivers side lights are chipped or cracked.

That got me to thinking about protection for the new (to me) lamps when I install them.

Matthew Pollard has some clear plastic film applied to the face of the lights on his '87, and a bit of research turned up this site -

They offer a variety of paint and light protection kits (not for Vanagons) but also have generic light shields, and bulk light shield material.

The Vanagon four light systems are ~ 5" high, the low beam ~ 7" and the high ~ 4.5" wide, so it looks like one of their 12" x 12" sheets would cover all of them for $15 plus shipping.

Has anyone had any experience with this system? Any better ideas?
