The 1.9l motor uses the digijet fuel control system which is essentially a Bosch L-Jetronic system to control the timing and duration of fuel-injection pulses. The 2.1l motor uses digifant I which is a simplified Bosch Motronic system -- it's similar to digijet except that it also directly controls ignition timing, whilst the digijet system relies on a conventional distributor with centrifugal and vacuum advance. Both systems use a vane-type air-flow-meter that measures air volume, whereas later systems use a hot-wire-type air*mass* meter that directly measures the mass of intake air. The mechanical wiping contacts in the air flow meter (AFM) are a source of much trouble to Vanagonians.
