Don >> Sorry guys, this bit of wisdom is counter to my experience. Cost me $725 and tax. I used the diesel trans and diesel input shaft, and broke out the 3/4 hub I had replaced 20K miles earlier. The depth of the pilot hole in the crank on the Golf, Jetta etc. transverse mount engine is not as deep as the diesel block. My trans guy had to take several mm from the shaft. My engine was/currently is the RV digifanr from the 1990 GTi. So Matt, measure the depth of the recess in the pilot hole on both engines and the difference is what you need to take off.
