I removed ~5mm. from the end of the diesel input shaft using a '89 1.8 l. RV and ACW trans.. I removed the 5mm. after measuring to determine how much to remove and added a little to insure there would be no bottoming. I think the transverse I4s had a shallower bore depth in the end of their cranks than did the Vanagon diesels?
