Nice site as is Gary. I got some old Yakima roof/gutter towers from a local rack shop for $10.00 each and two 6' poles and mounted everything on the back hatch of my '91 Westy. I use a fork mount and small rear wheel tray and a front wheel mount. Everything locks onto either the hatch or the poles. Works great. I can still open the hatch if needed. Like your racks, I like having the bikes out of the wind and below the roof line so I don't peel them off if driving into a parking terrace or other low obstruction. Bob Stevens '91 Westy

That's me. I build cargo/bike racks, ladders, gas can carriers, tire carriers, jack carriers specifically for the vanagon.

I also just finished a carrier that allows you to attach up to 4 bike trays on the rear hatch. Will work with your thule or Yakima hardware. If you need to carry 4 bikes and don't want to put them on the roof, this is a way to do it. I'll have pictures up in a couple of days.
