You need to support the other end on the shaft and push that little plastic wheel in a bit. Just 1/32 to 1/16 of an inch did it for me. The shaft is supposed to have some play. Perhaps your wheel needs to be replaced. About $8 or so from a speedo shop. If the wheel moves too easily it is broken. You probably do not see the hairline crack.
