Hi All.

I was inspired to have a close look at the rear heater. An annoying aroma of maple syrup and a little green coloured liquid told me I should.

I have had a look at Ben Huot's page... and discovered my heater has no valve lever at the valve... just a Philip's screw where it should have been. There was no o-ring at the valve either. I have a brand new o-ring to install and will... but will I have to replace that valve section completely in order to replace that lever? The core appears to be really intact - very clean but with evidence of the coolant along the bottom of the core. I suspect this was the drip path for a leak at the valve.

When I put that heater back together... how do I deal with the air that will be in the system due to the core being out and emptied? Can I just fill it at the bleeder screw at the heater when re-installed or do the VW gods say I must be punished and bleed the system ?

Any help appreciated.

Thanks folks.
