We sell a really nice exhaust manifold for these conversions that is a 4 to 2 manifold. It is the same one that was used on the Eurospec conversion and also on the Tiico conversion. It has the flange tipped on an angle toward the front of the van and then you would have to have a connecting pipe made up that goes from this flange and back around to the catalytic convertor. I don't know what car it comes off of though. I sell these for $80 (new). I would not recommend using the stock diesel exhaust manifold and pipe since it is super restrictive. The only reason that anyone would recommend to go with the stock diesel setup would be to get the conversion done faster (it is easier to just bolt this stuff back together than to get this extra pipe made up, but why not get all the power you can get if you are doing this?) Just FYI.

I'm also undertaking the GTi transplant in my '82 diesel. My mechanic wants me to stay with the stock diesel manifold and pipe, but I understand that this is highly restrictive. I've heard there are other solutions - 'Rabbit,' but I'm not exactly sure.

Could someone please let me know what, exactly, to look for. I'd like to know which particular header from which year of which car. That way I can call around and try and get one. There doesn't seem to be a lot of room there, so I'd like to get this done while the engine's out. Also, seems that some headers go the opposite direction altogether.

As far as attaching the exhaust to the header, what's the best solution - flex pipe?

What about the 0x sensor, cat, etc? Where do these fit in?

Thanks in advance.

Jon
